My wife Patty and I have had cars broken into three times and one of our friends (who just moved into Magnolia) had car taken and house robbed. We felt hopeless until we read about your efforts. Now we feel like we can fight back. Count us in!
I served 14 years on the Edmonds City Council being elected five times. I don't have security experience like you but I did chair the Public Safty Committee. I mention this because I have some experience working in public sector and helping to organize folks. Put me to work. I'll see you Saturday.
Retired Edmonds City Council Member
Joe, I got your email off of the Magnolia Voice. My family and I moved to Magnolia in the last year and we live on Armour. Unfortunately I cannot make the meeting tomorrow at noon because of other commitments, but I wanted to express my strong support for private police patrols in Magnolia. I won't bore you with a long discursive email but I am not happy with how things seem to be progressing in terms of crime in the area and I think it's great that people are stepping up to try and come up with solutions. I'm sure some people will bristle at the idea of citizens paying for private services rather than paying for them indirectly through higher taxes. My polite response is that while that raises interesting questions, in the mean time let's do something that will work and protect people and their property, at least for the short term, while we continue longer term option. Please let me know what I can do to help. Thank you for your efforts. Best, Nick
We reside in Magnolia (near the library) and would participate in getting private patrol in Magnolia.
My name is Theresa and I am a Magnolia home owner (32nd and Armour). We've been renting out our house for the last decade while out of state. We'll be moving back to Seattle and into our house with our two small kids this summer so I just wanted to express my thanks and interest in what you're doing to help reduce crime in the Magnolia neighborhood. We won't be able to attend any community meetings in person until June but I'd like to stay in he loop and part of the conversation. How can I best do this? I'd also like you to know that you can count on our financial contribution to the Magnolia Patrol. Our home in San Diego has been robbed 2x in the last 12 months, and I refuse to continue to live with this kind of paranoia that someone is invading our home and safety moving forward.
Please let me know how I can be of any service to this cause.
I am unable to sign in to the Magnolia Voice Page but I would be interested in attending the meeting on Saturday. I am a 30 year resident of a Magnolia and have been broken into four times. I do not want it to happen again. If you need people to assist in your efforts to get this established please let me know.
I was attached to the 101st at Phu Bai in 1970-71. I was with The 8th Radio Research Field Station there.
I read the article in the voice. My family is in the Coast Guard but we still own our home in Magnolia and plan to return after I retire. We can't offer our time to community patrols, but we want the neighborhood to remain a safe and good place for families. We'd gladly pay for private security, please keep me updated of your initiative and good luck. Finally an alternative to sending letters to city council members etc. This one feels very real, it puts the control of our future back into our hands.
My husband, Mark, our 5 kiddos, and I live here in Magnolia. We are extremely interested in the private patrol services described in the Magnolia Voice. We cannot take a leadership role currently (I am battling cancer with another surgery this Wednesday and my husband has his hands full with his full-time job and helping to take care of me and our children) but would absolutely subscribe to this service. I hope you have a super turn out at the meeting next Saturday and look forward to hearing more about this exciting project.
I've been following your efforts via Magnolia Voice. I would fully support annual fees to support this initiative. I plan on attending the meeting on the 21st.
Thank you for spearheading this effort. Due to a previous engagement for our 2 year old daughter, I'm unable to attend the Feb 21 meeting.
But I wanted to let you know we support your efforts and would be willing to subscribe to the service (assuming it would be in the $250 to $300 annual charges similar to Laurelhurst).
Just a a reference point, we live on Ruffner between 21st and 22nd.
Thanks for your efforts!

I am unable to attend tomorrow, and sorry for that. I am still in full support and willing to take a board role. I have an extensive security background, and moved to Magnolia from Phoenix AZ 5 months ago for Amazon to run their Americas division for Security and Loss Prevention. If I’m not a board member, I would still be happy to contribute where I can…
My landlord told me about your website and suggested I write to you. This past Wednesday my car was stolen from my apartment complex. I live at the Discovery Park apartments off of 32nd. It was an older vehicle with nothing of value inside. Any helpful eyes to spot a Honda CRV 2000,Silver, with the licence plate AAB4693 would of course be very helpful. There is also an army of one bumper sticker, Cornish college of the Arts sticker, and military tags on the vehicle. Our apartment complex also experienced our mail being stolen about a month or so ago.
Neither Dean or I can make the meeting tomorrow but both of us are highly supportive of what you are doing.
We've recently moved back to Magnolia and have noticed a difference after being gone for two years. We lived here for ten years prior and Dean actually grew up here.
We'll subscribe to the service so you can count us in.
Our family has subscribed to the Magnolia Patrol, and we took advantage of one of the services that they provide for vacation patrols. Yesterday the patrol went to check on our house and they found that we had forgotten to lock one of our doors. They promptly contacted us, and remained at the house to keep it secure until we were able to have another family member who had backup keys show up and secure the house. They continued to check the house twice a day while were away, checking all doors and windows thoroughly. It was so nice to know that someone had our back and the peace of mind was well worth the subscription. Thanks Magnolia Patrol!
